Circuit Board Functional Test

Overview

An electronics manufacturing company had to accommodate a new high production product line. Their functional test for the circuit board was slow, required a lot of maintenance, and was prone to operator error.

Solution

We designed and built a PC based functional test programmed in LabVIEW that reduced their time from 10 minutes to 3 minutes per board. We also were able to automatically track the number of boards that passed, and also what their failure mode was. This data was fed back to the operator in real time so the manufacturing process could be evaluated for quality purposes. The test was also made modular to accommodate different revisions and products. This test saved an enormous amount of production time, was easy to maintain, and eliminated operator error.
